Danny’s boat was skippered down the river by his good friend and fellow Sherkin Island ferryman Vincent O’Driscoll.

Danny was buried in the New cemetery nr Skibbereen, as there is not a graveyard on Heir Island, a number of Islanders from Heir, cut a sod of grass from Dannys land to be rolled out to cover the grave, so Danny will always be a part of Heir Island.
